I SUOI PRECEDENTI COMANDI SONO STATI QUELLI DI COMANDANTE DELLE FORZE USA NEL PACIFICO E DI COMANDANTE DELLE FORZE NAVALI USA.

SI E’ DIMESSO NEL 2008 E LA MOTIVAZIONE RIPORTATA DALLA STAMPA AMERICANA E’ STATA QUELLA CHE FOSSE CONTRARIO ALLA GESTIONE DEL POST INTERVENTO IN IRAQ DEL PRESIDENTE GEORGE W. BUSH.

“This story is a complete fabrication.  It is a lie.:The only U.S. Navy shoot downs of Libyan aircraft took place in 1981 and 1989. Jim Flatley was CO of Saratoga in 1980 but he was not in a position to make that kind of decision as there was an Admiral aboard Saratoga and the 6^th Fleet Commander, both of whom would have to authorize any engagement.  I do not know who Sandlin is but he is a liar.

P.S. When I was Commander of U.S. Second Fleet, a retired USN pilot, who was formerly in my A-6 squadron claimed to the media that the U.S. Navy (one of my ships) shot down TWA-800 in 1996 near Long Island New York.  This was another complete fabrication as the cause of the mishap was a fuel vapor explosion in a fuel tank.”

Gli unici abbattimenti a aerei Libici son avvenuti nel 1981 e nel 1989.
Jim Flatley era il Comandante della Saratoga nel 1980 ma non era nella posizione di poter prendere quella decisione perchè c’era un ammiraglio a bordo della Saratoga e il Comandante della Sesta Flotta, i quali entrambi avrebbero dovuto autorizzare qualsiasi scontro. Non so chi fosse Sandlin ma è un bugiardo.

P.S. Quando ero il Comandante della U.S. Seconda Flotta, un pilota in congedo della aviazione di marina, che era stato nel mio Squadrone di A-6 denunciò alla stampa che la Marina Americana (una delle mie navi) abbattè il TWA-800 nel 1996 vicino a Long Island New York. Questa è stata un’altra completa invenzione perchè la causa del disastro fu una esplosione di vapore di carburante nel serbatoio”.
